Kasbah of Gnaouas
Located in Salé, this site is the only remaining kasbah on the right bank of the Bouregreg River. Visitors go here to explore the architecture of an old fortress and view the river and the opposite shoreline of Rabat.
Getting There
The kasbah is situated across the river from Rabat's city center. You can reach it by taking a small boat (shuttle) across the Bouregreg River from the Rabat side, followed by a short walk. The total transit time typically takes 20 to 30 minutes depending on boat availability.
Duration of Visit
Allow approximately 1 to 2 hours to walk through the fortress grounds and observe the riverside views.
When to Visit
Visiting during the morning or late afternoon is recommended to avoid the midday heat. The site can become crowded during weekends and public holidays when local foot traffic increases.
