Sunnah Mosque

Overview

Sunnah Mosque is a prominent religious landmark located in central Rabat, recognized as one of the largest mosques in Morocco. Travellers visit primarily while walking through the city centre to admire its imposing exterior, tall minaret, and traditional Moroccan architectural details.

Getting There

Situated in the heart of downtown Rabat along Avenue Mohammed V, the site is easily reachable on foot. Walking from the central Rabat Ville train station takes approximately 5 to 10 minutes. City taxis can also drop passengers off directly along the adjacent streets.

Time to Allow

Set aside roughly 15 to 30 minutes to view the exterior facade, decorative gates, and surrounding open plaza during a downtown walking itinerary.

When to Visit

Morning and late afternoon offer comfortable temperatures for walking and clear lighting for examining the architecture. The area around the perimeter becomes crowded during daily prayer times, particularly during Friday midday prayer, when large congregations create heavy pedestrian and traffic congestion.
