Overview

Harpa is a concert hall and conference center located along the waterfront in central Reykjavík. Completed in 2011, the building hosts orchestral performances, musical concerts, and cultural events. Travellers typically visit to attend scheduled shows or to view the distinct geometric glass facade and interior architecture.

Getting There

The site sits next to the Old Harbour and is easily accessible on foot from downtown Reykjavík. Walking from the city centre takes roughly 5 to 10 minutes. City buses also serve the surrounding harbour area.

Time to Spend

Plan to spend 30 to 45 minutes if you are only exploring the public lobbies and observing the structure. If attending a concert or event, allow between 2 and 3 hours.

When to Visit

The building is accessible throughout the year. Daytime visits provide natural light across the harbor, while evening visits highlight the interior lighting. The public halls tend to get crowded immediately before scheduled evening performances and during large conventions.
