Candelária Church
Overview
Candelária Church is a historic Catholic church located in downtown Rio de Janeiro. Completed over several decades, the building combines a Portuguese colonial Baroque exterior with a Neoclassical and Neo-Renaissance interior. Located at Praça Pio X in the Centro district, the site is reachable from central areas like Carioca or Cinelândia in about 10 to 15 minutes on foot. You can also take the VLT light rail directly to the Candelária stop, which takes around 5 minutes from central hubs.
