Parque Lage
What It Is
Parque Lage is a public park at the foot of Corcovado Mountain in Rio de Janeiro. Located in the Jardim Botânico neighbourhood, the grounds feature shaded walking paths through Atlantic Forest vegetation and views up toward the Christ the Redeemer statue. Travellers visit to walk the grounds and see the historic mansion with its central courtyard.
Getting There
From central Rio de Janeiro, you can reach the park by bus, taxi, or ride-hailing services. The drive takes roughly 20 to 40 minutes depending on traffic.
Suggested Visit Duration
Allow about 1 to 2 hours to walk the trails and see the courtyard and gardens.
When to Visit
Weekday mornings are best for a quieter visit. The park gets crowded on weekends and sunny afternoons, which can cause lines around the courtyard. Arriving early also avoids the midday heat.
