What It Is

Mozart's birthplace is a historic building on Getreidegasse where the composer was born in 1756. The museum features the third-floor apartment where he lived with his father Leopold, a court musician, allowing visitors to see the historical rooms and understand his early childhood.

Getting There

The building sits in the pedestrian centre of Salzburg's Old Town. From central points such as Residenzplatz or the Salzach riverbanks, it is an easy 5 to 10-minute walk. Local buses stop just outside the pedestrian zone.

Visiting Time

Plan to spend around 1 to 1.5 hours inside to tour the apartment and read the displays.

When to Visit

The museum gets crowded, especially during midday hours and the summer high season when tour groups arrive. Visiting early in the morning or later in the afternoon offers a quieter experience.
