Neue Residenz
What It Is
The Neue Residenz is a late 16th-century palace located in Salzburg's historic old town, directly east of the cathedral. Commissioned by the prince-archbishop to expand the existing residence, the building stands as an example of Renaissance palace design and currently houses the Salzburg Museum. Visitors go to explore collections covering local history, art, and urban development.
