Montale Tower
Montale is one of the three historic towers located on the peaks of Monte Titano in San Marino. Visitors go here to see one of the country's primary architectural landmarks and to observe the surrounding landscape from its elevated position.
Getting There
The tower is located within the city of San Marino. From the city centre, it is accessible via a short walk along the ridge. Depending on your starting point and pace, the walk typically takes about 10 to 15 minutes.
Duration of Visit
Most visitors spend between 30 and 60 minutes at the site, depending on whether they are focusing on the exterior architecture or exploring the immediate surrounding area.
When to Visit
The site is accessible throughout the year. To avoid the largest crowds, visit during the early morning or late afternoon. During peak tourist seasons, the paths leading to the tower can become crowded.
Nearby Attractions
Because of its location on the ridge, this site is easily combined with other nearby points of interest:
- Monte Titano (0.2km): The mountain upon which the tower is built.
- De La Fratta (0.3km): Another historic fortification.
- Sammarinese Museum of Ancient Arms (0.3km): A museum located within walking distance.
- Guaita (0.6km): The first and oldest of the three towers.
