Quelepa Archaeological Site
Quelepa is an archaeological site located in eastern El Salvador, near San Miguel. Founded by the Lenca people around 400 BC, the site preserves structures and artifacts that illustrate the agricultural and social organization of early farming communities. Visitors can see ancient grinding stones and tortilla griddles, providing evidence of the dietary habits and daily life of the inhabitants.
Getting There
The site is located outside the center of San Miguel. Travelers typically reach the ruins via taxi or rental car. The drive from the city center takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes depending on traffic conditions.
