Overview

Opened in 1888, the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina is the country's primary cultural institution. It preserves exhibits across archaeology, ethnology, and natural sciences, alongside a research library holding over 160,000 volumes. The complex features four pavilions arranged around a central botanical garden.

Getting There

Located in the Marijin Dvor area, the site is reached from the city centre via westbound tram lines 1, 2, 3, or 5 in about 10 to 15 minutes. Walking from the old town along the river takes roughly 30 minutes.

Suggested Duration

Allow 2 to 3 hours to explore the exhibition halls and the botanical courtyard. Those focusing closely on regional history may require extra time.
