Saint Sophia Church
Overview
Dating back to the 4th century, Saint Sophia Church is one of Sofia's oldest religious buildings and the structure from which the capital takes its name. It served as a mosque during the 16th century before being restored as an Orthodox church. Visitors come to see its early Christian brick architecture and its direct connection to the city's heritage.

The church is located in central Sofia. Walking from the central Serdika area takes about 10 to 15 minutes. City buses and trams also drop off within a short walk of the site.
