Peristyle Square

The Peristyle is the central courtyard of Diocletian's Palace in Split. It is an open-air Roman square surrounded by ancient columns and ruins. Travelers visit this site to see the architectural remains of the imperial palace and to use the space as a central meeting point within the old city.

Getting There

The square is located within the historic center of Split. Since it is in the heart of the pedestrian zone, it is accessible by walking from any point in the city center. Depending on your starting point, it typically takes 5 to 15 minutes to reach on foot.

Time Requirement

Visitors generally spend 30 to 60 minutes here. This allows enough time to walk around the perimeter, observe the Roman columns, and sit in the square.

When to Visit

The area is open to the public at all times. It becomes very crowded during the peak summer months and in the evenings when people gather in the square. To avoid the largest crowds, visit in the early morning.
