Rosendal Palace

Located on the island of Djurgården, this palace was constructed in the 1820s for Karl XIV Johan, the first king of the Bernadotte dynasty. Visitors go here to see the Empire-style architecture and the interior furnishings that reflect the tastes of the early 19th century. The site functions as a museum and is surrounded by a park.

Getting There

The palace is accessible from Stockholm city centre via public transport. You can take a bus or a tram to the Djurgården area. The journey typically takes between 20 and 30 minutes depending on the departure point and traffic.

Visit Duration

Allow approximately 1.5 to 2 hours to tour the interior of the palace and walk through the surrounding gardens.

When to Visit

The gardens are most accessible during the spring and summer months. To avoid larger groups, arriving early in the day is recommended. The site can become crowded during peak summer tourist seasons.
