Overview

The Royal Dramatic Theatre is Sweden's national stage for spoken drama, situated at Nybroplan in central Stockholm. Travellers visit to attend live stage productions or to observe the historic building from the waterfront square.

Getting There

From the city centre around Sergels torg, it is a direct 10-minute walk east. Trams and buses stop directly at Nybroplan in front of the venue, and the Östermalmstorg metro station is a five-minute walk away.

Time to Allow

Set aside 15 to 30 minutes if you only plan to view the architecture from the outside. If attending a performance, plan for 2 to 3 hours.

When to Visit

The exterior can be seen year-round during daylight. The main indoor theatre season runs from autumn through spring. The surrounding plaza gets crowded on weekday late afternoons and right before scheduled shows.
