Nukulau is a small island located about 10 km east of Suva. Having played a significant role in Fijian history and politics for over 160 years, the site provides a peaceful, open environment for coastal walking, picnics, and exploring local heritage.

Getting There

Reaching the island requires traveling east from Suva's city centre to a coastal departure point, followed by a boat transfer. The boat ride typically takes 20 to 30 minutes depending on sea conditions.

Time to Spend

Plan for 3 to 4 hours on the island. This allows sufficient time to walk around the perimeter, view historical landmarks, and rest along the shoreline before heading back.

When to Visit

The dry season between May and October offers calmer waters and lower rainfall. Morning trips help avoid afternoon showers and peak sun. The island can get busy with picnickers on weekends, while weekdays remain quiet.
