Lake Fehér
Lake Fehér
Located north of Szeged, this is the largest saline lake in Hungary and a protected area within the Kiskunság National Park. It serves as a critical stopover for migratory birds, with over 280 species recorded. Visitors primarily go here for birdwatching and nature walks through the surrounding wetlands.
Getting There
The lake is situated outside the main urban area of Szeged. From the city centre, it is accessible by car or local transport. The journey typically takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes depending on the mode of transport and traffic conditions.
Duration of Visit
Depending on the level of interest in wildlife observation, allow between 2 and 4 hours. This provides enough time to walk along the designated paths and use the observation points to spot birds.
When to Visit
The best time to visit is during the spring and autumn migration seasons when the variety of bird species is highest. Early morning is generally the most productive time for birdwatching. The area is less crowded than the city centre, though it may see more visitors during peak migration windows.
