About the Park

Sorsapuisto is a 4.2-hectare public park in Tampere's Tulli district, laid out in the 1930s. Once home to a zoo, it is now an urban green space beside Tampere Hall. Travelers visit for a quiet walk along the paths, to sit near the central pond, or to take a break between sightseeing stops.

Getting There

The park is located east of the city centre. Walking from Tampere central station takes about 5 to 10 minutes. Trams and local buses serving Tampere Hall also stop right next to the grounds.

Time to Allow

Set aside 20 to 45 minutes to walk through the grounds. If relaxing on the lawns or taking a leisurely break by the water, allow up to an hour.

When to Go

Late spring and summer offer green lawns and the best walking weather. The grounds can get crowded on warm afternoons and when large events let out at the adjacent concert hall. Early mornings and weekdays are quieter. In winter, visits are typically brief walks due to snow and cold.

What to Combine It With

Visits can be easily combined with several nearby sights:

  • Moomin Museum (0.1km)
  • Tampere Hall (0.1km)
  • Tampere Orthodox Church (0.5km)
  • Kaleva Church (0.7km)
