Overview

The Georgian Museum of Fine Arts is a private institution on Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi. It is the only building in Georgia constructed specifically for art exhibitions. The venue houses around 3,500 works by roughly 80 Georgian artists active over the past 70 years, providing an extensive overview of modern and contemporary national art.

Getting There

Set along Rustaveli Avenue in central Tbilisi, the venue is a 3 to 5-minute walk from Freedom Square. Those using public transport can take the metro to Liberty Square station and walk north along the avenue.

Recommended Duration

Allow 1.5 to 2 hours to explore the permanent collection across multiple floors. Visitors with a particular interest in post-war Georgian art may want up to 2.5 hours.

When to Visit

Weekday mornings and early afternoons are the quietest times. Crowds remain manageable overall but increase on weekends. Because all exhibits are indoors, it is suitable in all seasons and during extreme weather.
