High Park
Overview
High Park is a large municipal park in Toronto. It features cultivated gardens, natural woodland trails, children's playgrounds, and an animal zoo. Travellers visit primarily for outdoor walking, birdwatching, and escaping the urban core without leaving the city.
Getting There
From downtown Toronto, take the TTC subway Line 2 (Bloor-Danforth) westbound directly to High Park Station at the north entrance. The trip from the city centre takes roughly 20 to 30 minutes.
Time to Allow
Plan to spend between 2 and 3 hours to cover the main paved routes, gardens, and animal enclosures. If you intend to hike the unpaved trails or sit down for a picnic, set aside half a day.
When to Visit
Weekday mornings are best for avoiding crowds. The grounds become very busy on warm summer weekends and during the spring blossom period. Autumn provides good conditions for walking among changing foliage, while winter visits require care on slippery paths.

Consider combining a visit with these nearby destinations:

- Roncesvalles (1.1 km): A commercial and residential neighborhood lined with casual dining spots and independent shops.
- Humber River (1.8 km): A river corridor to the west featuring waterside trails and natural scenery.
- Parkdale (2.2 km): An urban neighborhood southeast of the grounds offering diverse eateries and vintage stores.
