Huaca del Dragón
Huaca del Dragón
This adobe temple is an archaeological site located near the Chan Chan ruins in Trujillo. It functioned as served as a center for religious and administrative activities. Visitors go here to see the ancient architecture and the relief mural featuring rainbow motifs carved into the clay walls.
Getting There
The site is located on the outskirts of Trujillo. From the city centre, you can reach the temple via taxi or local transport. The trip typically takes about 15 to 20 minutes depending on traffic conditions.
Visit Duration
Allow approximately 1 to 2 hours to walk through the site and examine the murals and structural remains.
When to Visit
Morning visits are recommended to avoid the midday heat, as the site is open and exposed to the sun. The area does not typically experience the same level of crowding as the larger Chan Chan complex, though it is busier during peak tourism seasons.
