Overview

Kylämäki Village is an open-air museum on the outskirts of Turku. The site brings together relocated 19th-century farmhouses to recreate the layout and atmosphere of a bygone rural settlement. Buildings are furnished as they were originally lived in, offering visitors a direct look at traditional farming routines, household life, and historic crafts.

Getting There

Located northeast of central Turku, the museum is accessible by local bus from the city centre in roughly 15 to 25 minutes, followed by a brief walk. Driving or cycling from the city centre takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes.

Time to Allow

Plan to spend 1 to 2 hours on site. This provides sufficient time to walk between the farmhouses, view the interior exhibits, and explore the surrounding grounds.

When to Go

Summer is the most practical season to visit, as the outdoor paths and farm buildings are best navigated in mild weather. The grounds rarely suffer from heavy crowds, though weekend afternoons tend to draw more visitors than quiet weekday mornings.
