Grandmaster's Palace
Grandmaster's Palace
Located in Valletta, this palace served as the official residence of the Grand Masters of the Knights Hospitaller. Visitors go here to see the historical state rooms, armories, and the architecture associated with the order's rule over Malta.
Getting There
The palace is situated in the heart of Valletta. Since the city center is compact and pedestrian-friendly, it is accessible by foot from most central points within a few minutes. If arriving from the outskirts of the city, a short walk from the main bus terminals will lead you to the site.
Time Requirement
Allow approximately 1.5 to 2 hours to walk through the interior rooms and view the collections. This provides enough time to move through the state apartments without rushing.
When to Visit
Morning visits are generally quieter. During the peak summer tourist season, the site can get crowded, particularly in the smaller galleries. To avoid the largest groups, plan your visit for the shoulder seasons of spring or autumn.
Nearby Attractions
Because of its central location, the palace can be combined with several other sites within a 200-meter radius:
- St. John's Co-Cathedral (0.2km)
- Manoel Theatre (0.2km)
- Collegiate Parish Church of St Paul's Shipwreck (0.2km)
- Basilica of St Dominic (0.2km)
