Queen Elizabeth Park

Overview

Queen Elizabeth Park is a civic park situated atop Little Mountain, about 125 meters above sea level. Formerly a rock quarry, the site features landscaped gardens, paved walking paths, and viewpoints overlooking Vancouver and the North Shore mountains.

Getting There

From downtown Vancouver, take the SkyTrain Canada Line south to King Edward Station or Oakridge–41st Avenue Station. The walk to the park takes 10 to 15 minutes uphill, with total transit travel time around 20 to 25 minutes. Local buses along Cambie Street also stop near the park perimeter.

Time to Allow

Allow 1 to 2 hours to walk through the quarry gardens and take in the viewpoints.

When to Go

Clear days are best for mountain and skyline visibility. Spring and summer bring full garden blooms, while autumn provides foliage color. The grounds get crowded on sunny weekend afternoons; weekday mornings are quieter.

Nearby Attractions

You can combine a visit with several nearby spots:

  • Bloedel Conservatory (0.1km): Located directly at the park summit.
  • Riley Park–Little Mountain (0.9km): Situated directly northeast of the grounds.
  • VanDusen Botanical Garden (1.3km): Located a short distance to the west.
  • Punjabi Market (2.1km): A commercial and dining district to the southeast.
