These transition periods offer the clearest waters and lightest breezes. Ferries departing Victoria's harbor face minimal swell, and underwater visibility is at its peak. Walking around the town center and market is comfortable without oppressive humidity.
May to September: Drier Weather and Stronger Winds
Southeast trade winds bring lower humidity and less rain, making this a comfortable season for walking. However, sustained winds cause rough seas, making inter-island ferry rides choppy, particularly during July and August.
December to January: Wet Season to Approach with Care
The northwest monsoon peaks with high humidity and heavy tropical downpours. Rain accumulates quickly against the mountains behind Victoria, occasionally causing road delays along the coast toward Seychelles International Airport (SEZ).
Crowds and Local Events
Visitor numbers surge during July, August, and Christmas through early January, tightening availability for car rentals and ferries. In late October, Victoria hosts Festival Kreol, bringing music and food stalls to the central streets.
