Užupis

Užupis is a district in Vilnius located across the other side of the river from the Old Town. It is known as a self-proclaimed independent republic and serves as a hub for artists and creative residents. Travelers visit the area to see its street art, unique sculptures, and the public constitution written on walls in multiple languages.

Getting There

The district is located within walking distance of the Vilnius city centre. From the central Old Town area, it takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes to reach the neighborhood on foot by crossing the river.

Allow 2 to 3 hours to walk through the streets, read the constitution, and explore the local galleries and workshops.

When to Visit

The area is accessible throughout the year, though the outdoor art and riverside views are most visible during spring and summer. It can become crowded with tourists during the weekends and peak summer months. Visiting on a weekday morning typically offers a quieter experience.
