Kanina Fortress
Located in the village of Kaninë near Vlorë, this site consists of the ruins of an old fortress. Visitors go here to explore the remaining fortifications and view the surrounding landscape of southwestern Albania.
Getting There
The fortress is situated on a hill outside the Vlorë city centre. It is accessible by car or taxi via a winding road leading up to the village of Kaninë. The drive typically takes about 15 to 20 minutes depending on traffic.
Visit Duration
Allow approximately 1 to 2 hours to walk through the ruins and explore the perimeter of the walls.
When to Visit
The site is exposed with little shade, so visiting during the early morning or late afternoon is advisable to avoid midday heat. Spring and autumn are the most temperate seasons for visiting. The location does not typically experience the same level of crowding as the city centre.
