Wilanów Palace is a 17th-century royal residence in southern Warsaw. Built for King John III Sobieski, the complex features baroque architecture, outbuildings, and extensive gardens. Having survived World War II largely intact, it is an important site for seeing original Polish royal interiors and art collections.

Getting There

Located roughly 10 kilometres south of the city centre, the palace is reachable by direct municipal bus lines from central transit hubs in about 30 to 45 minutes. A taxi or ride-share from downtown takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes.

Plan for 2 to 3 hours to tour the interior rooms and walk through the surrounding gardens.

When to Go

Spring and summer are best for the gardens. The site gets crowded on weekends and during midday peak hours due to tour groups. Visit on weekday mornings or late afternoons for fewer crowds.
