Reginald's Tower

Reginald's Tower

Located at the eastern end of Waterford's quay, this structure is the oldest civic building in Ireland. It serves as a museum that showcases the city's medieval defenses and its history dating back to the Viking era. Visitors go here to see the architectural traces of the city's fortifications and learn about the regional maritime and military past.

Getting There

The tower is situated within the city center area. From the main shopping districts or the central quay, it is a short walk of approximately 5 to 10 minutes. It is easily accessible on foot via the waterfront.

Visit Duration

Most visitors spend between 1 and 2 hours exploring the interior exhibits and the structure itself.

When to Visit

The site is open year-round. To avoid the largest groups, visiting during weekday mornings is generally quieter. Like many historic sites in the city, it can become more crowded during the peak summer tourist season.
