Padang Padang Beach
Padang Padang Beach is a 110-metre-long (120 yd) sandy beach in Pecatu on the Bukit Peninsula in Bali, Indonesia. It is characterised by fine white sand and tall cliffs.
What It Is
Padang Padang Beach is a small, sheltered cove on the Bukit Peninsula, reached by descending a narrow stone stairway cut into the cliffside and squeezed through a gap in the rock. The beach itself is short — just over 100 metres of fine white sand — bordered by tall limestone cliffs on both sides, which give it an enclosed, sheltered feel compared to the open beaches further north. It's a good spot for swimming when the water is calm, and the surf break just offshore is well regarded among surfers, particularly at higher tide.
Getting There
From central Kuta or Seminyak, expect around 40–60 minutes by car or scooter, depending on traffic on the Bukit's narrow access roads. There's a small parking area at the top of the cliff, from which you walk down a stepped path to reach the sand.
Time to Allow
An hour or two is enough for a look around and a swim; if you're settling in to sunbathe or catching a surf session, plan on half a day.
When to Go
The beach is compact, and space fills up quickly once tour groups and day-trippers arrive, so early morning tends to be the calmest time to visit. Midday and afternoon can get crowded, especially in peak tourist season. Check tide and swell conditions before swimming, as the cove can get rough when the surf is up.
Combine It With
Pura Luhur is close by at 2.7 km, making it an easy pairing for the same trip. Garuda Wisnu Kencana is about 7.3 km away, and Pandawa Beach around 10.1 km — both reasonable additions if you're spending a full day exploring the Bukit Peninsula. Pantai Kuta, roughly 12.5 km away, is better treated as a separate outing given the distance and the driving time involved.
