Bagacay Point Lighthouse

Bagacay Point Lighthouse

Bagacay Point Lighthouse is an active lighthouse in Liloan, Cebu, in the Philippines.

Bagacay Point Lighthouse

Bagacay Point Lighthouse is a working navigational lighthouse on a headland in Liloan, at the northern edge of Cebu. It's a small, functional structure rather than a museum piece, and the main draw is the setting: an open view over the strait separating Cebu from Camotes Sea, with rock formations along the point and, on clear days, silhouettes of nearby islands. Travellers come here for the coastal scenery and photos rather than for historical exhibits.

Getting there

Liloan sits north of Cebu City. From the city centre, expect a drive of roughly 45 minutes to an hour by car or taxi, longer if you take a jeepney and transfer along the way. The route follows the coastal road north through Mandaue and Consolacion before reaching Liloan.

How long to stay

Most visitors need 30 to 60 minutes at the point itself — enough time to walk around the lighthouse, take in the view, and explore the rocks nearby.

When to go

Late afternoon is a good window, since the light on the water is softer and temperatures drop from the midday heat. The site is not heavily touristed, but weekends can bring more local visitors than weekdays. Avoid going during or right after heavy rain, as the rocky approach can get slippery.

Combine it with

  • Silut Lagoon (2.8km) — the closest stop, easy to pair on the same short trip.
  • Magellan Bay (5.5km) — a reasonable add-on if you have half a day.
  • Lapulapu Monument and Liberty Shrine (both around 8km) — better grouped together as a separate outing given the distance.
