Große Moschee von Taipeh

Taipei Grand Mosque

Taipei Grand Mosque

This is the largest and oldest mosque in Taiwan and the main center of Islamic life and worship in Taipei. Beyond its religious role, it's worth a stop for the building itself — a mid-20th-century Islamic-style structure with a dome and minaret that stands out from the surrounding city blocks near Da'an Forest Park. Visitors are generally welcome to view the exterior and courtyard, though it remains an active place of worship, so it's worth being mindful of prayer times and dressing modestly, especially if you'd like to see the interior.

Getting there

From central Taipei, the mosque sits in Da'an District and is easily reached by MRT — Daan Park Station on the Red Line is a short walk away. From areas like Ximen or Taipei Main Station, expect roughly 15-20 minutes by metro plus a few minutes on foot.

How long to stay

Most visitors spend 20-30 minutes here, enough to view the architecture, courtyard, and exterior details. If you're able to see inside, allow a bit longer.

When to go

Weekdays outside of prayer times tend to be quieter, and Friday midday draws larger crowds of worshippers. As with many religious sites, it's respectful to avoid treating prayer hours as a photo opportunity.
