There's no direct public transport route to the gate, so most visitors arrange a private vehicle, habal-habal (motorcycle taxi), or a tour that includes transport.
How much time to allow
Plan for at least half a day once you include travel time. Inside the park itself, two to three hours is enough for a walk along the main trails and some birdwatching, though keen birders may want longer.
When to go
Go in the morning, when birds are most active and the uphill roads are easier to navigate in daylight. Dry season is more comfortable for walking, since the upland trails can get muddy and slippery after rain. This is not a heavily touristed site, so crowding isn't a major concern.
