Ko Rin

Ko Rin is a small, largely undeveloped island off Pattaya, valued mainly for its coral reef fringe rather than for beaches or facilities. Most visitors come as part of a boat trip focused on snorkeling, with the reef being the main draw rather than the island itself.

Getting there

There is no scheduled public ferry to Ko Rin. Access is by chartered longtail or speedboat, typically arranged from Pattaya's Bali Hai Pier or as a stop on a multi-island snorkeling tour. Depending on boat type and sea conditions, the crossing takes roughly 30 to 60 minutes from central Pattaya.

How much time to allow

An hour or two in the water and around the island is usually enough, since there's little infrastructure on land. Most visitors treat it as one stop within a half-day or full-day boat itinerary rather than a standalone destination.

When to go

Mornings tend to have calmer, clearer water, which matters more here than time of year given the reliance on snorkeling visibility. Rough seas or heavy rain can make the crossing uncomfortable and cloud the water, so it's worth checking conditions before booking. As an outlying, low-facility island, it doesn't see the crowding of Pattaya's main beaches, but tour boats can still cluster at popular reef spots.

Combine it with

  • Ko Klueng Badan (11.7km) — closest island, often paired on the same boat route.
  • Ko Phai (15.2km) and Ko Klet Kaeo (16km) — further out, sometimes included on longer multi-island tours.
  • Ko Lan (15.4km) — Pattaya's main tourist island, with more developed beaches and food options if you want a contrast after a snorkeling-focused stop.
