台北南山広場
Taipei Nan Shan Plaza
What it is
Taipei Nan Shan Plaza is a skyscraper in the Xinyi Special District, standing next to Taipei 101 as one of the tallest buildings in the city. It's a commercial and office tower rather than a dedicated visitor attraction, so the appeal for travellers is mainly the streetscape it forms with its taller neighbour — worth a look if you're already exploring Xinyi's cluster of high-rises, rather than a destination on its own.
Getting there
From central Taipei, the Xinyi district is easily reached by MRT — take the Red Line to Taipei 101/World Trade Center Station, which sits right at the base of this cluster of towers. Depending on where in the city you start, the ride typically takes somewhere between 15 and 30 minutes.
How long to spend
Since this is a working building rather than an observation deck or museum, a brief look from street level is enough — most travellers spend a few minutes here as part of a longer walk through the Xinyi area.
When to go
The surrounding Xinyi district gets busy in the evenings and on weekends, especially around Taipei 101 and the connected malls, so if you prefer quieter streets, aim for a weekday daytime visit. There's no indoor attraction here requiring specific timing.
What to combine it with
This is best treated as a stop within a wider Xinyi itinerary. Taipei 101 is just 0.2km away and is the natural anchor for the area. The Sky Taipei is also 0.2km away, while Farglory Financial Center and Cathay Landmark are both about 0.7km off, making it easy to string together a walking route past several of Xinyi's landmark towers in one outing.
