What It Is

Qattara Oasis is an active date palm plantation in Al Ain featuring traditional falaj irrigation channels alongside Bronze Age archaeological remains. The area contains some of the city's oldest buildings and several historic mosques, providing visitors with a clear look at traditional agricultural systems and ancient settlements.

Getting There

Located in the northern part of Al Ain, the site is a 10- to 15-minute drive or taxi ride from the city centre. For those arriving via Dubai International Airport (DXB), driving to Al Ain takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.

Time to Allow

Set aside 1 to 2 hours to walk through the palm groves, observe the irrigation channels, and see the historic architecture.

When to Visit

The cooler months from November through March are best suited for walking outside. During hotter periods, plan for the early morning or late afternoon to avoid mid-day heat. The oasis is generally quiet and does not suffer from heavy tourist crowding.
