What It Is

Azarita is one of Alexandria's oldest downtown neighborhoods. Travelers visit to explore its urban streets and view residential and commercial buildings displaying Greek and Roman architectural influences, alongside local shops and everyday street life.

Getting There

Set directly in the city center, the area is accessible on foot from central hubs like Mahatet El Raml in under 10 minutes. Taxis and local trams connect it with other parts of Alexandria. From Borg El Arab International Airport (HBE), road transfers into central Alexandria typically take about 45 to 60 minutes depending on traffic.

When to Go

Late afternoon and early evening offer cooler temperatures and lively street activity. The area experiences heavy foot traffic and vehicle congestion during evening peak hours. The milder months from autumn to spring are better suited for walking than the heat of midsummer.
