Museum of Modern Art of Algiers
Overview
Opened in 2007, the Museum of Modern Art of Algiers presents modern and contemporary Algerian artwork. It gives visitors a dedicated space to view paintings, photography, and rotating exhibits highlighting the country's post-independence visual arts scene.
Getting There
The venue is located in downtown Algiers. From the city centre, it takes roughly 5 to 10 minutes to reach on foot. Travelers arriving from elsewhere or via Houari Boumediene Airport (ALG) can take a taxi or the metro into the city centre before walking to the entrance.
Time to Allow
Plan for 1 to 1.5 hours to tour the gallery floors and view the collections.
When to Visit
Weekday mornings are typically the least crowded. Expect more foot traffic in the late afternoons and on weekends. Visiting during spring or autumn provides the most comfortable weather for walking downtown.

- Algerian National Theater Mahieddine Bachtarzi (0.5km): A major performing arts venue.
