Sofia Garden
Sofia Garden
Located on the site of the former Bab Azoun fort, this public garden overlooks the port of Algiers. Visitors go here for the walking paths and a descending stairway that provides views of the sea. It serves as a green space for pedestrians to move between the upper and lower parts of the city.
Getting There
The garden is situated near the city center. Depending on your starting point, it is accessible via a short taxi ride or a walk of approximately 10 to 15 minutes from the central administrative districts.
Duration of Visit
Allow roughly 45 to 90 minutes to walk through the grounds and descend the stairs to the port area.
When to Visit
The garden is best visited during the morning or late afternoon to avoid the midday heat. Like most public parks in Algiers, it can become crowded during weekends and public holidays.
Nearby Attractions
Because of its central location, the garden can be combined with several nearby cultural sites within walking distance:
- Emir Abdelkader Square (0.5km)
- Mohamed Racim Art Gallery (0.6km)
- Museum of Modern Art of Algiers (0.6km)
