Ak Yum
Ak Yum
Ak Yum is an 8th-century temple located within the Angkor archaeological park in Cambodia. It is recognized as one of the earliest examples of the temple mountain architectural style in Southeast Asia. Travelers visit this site to see the early structural foundations of Khmer temple design before the construction of the larger, more complex monuments in the region.
Getting There
The site is located outside the main temple cluster. From Siem Reap city centre, it is most commonly accessed via tuk-tuk or hired vehicle. The journey typically takes 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic and the specific route taken through the archaeological area.
Visit Duration
Because the site is smaller and less complex than the primary Angkor temples, most visitors spend between 30 and 60 minutes exploring the grounds.
When to Visit
Early morning or late afternoon is recommended to avoid the midday heat. This site is significantly less crowded than the central Angkor Wat complex, making it a quieter stop for those looking to avoid large tour groups.

Due to its location, this temple can be combined with other sites in the western area of the park. Nearby points of interest include:
