Prasat Chrung

Prasat Chrung consists of sandstone shrines located at the four corners of the Angkor Thom walls. Built in the Bayon style, these structures are dedicated to Avalokiteshvara. They feature a cross-shaped design and face east, serving as architectural markers of the city's perimeter.

Getting There

The shrines are located within the Angkor Archaeological Park. From Siem Reap city centre, visitors typically travel by remork (tuk-tuk) or bicycle. The journey takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes depending on traffic and the specific entry point into the Angkor Thom complex.

Visit Duration

Because these shrines are smaller architectural points rather than large temple complexes, most visitors spend between 20 and 40 minutes exploring them.

When to Visit

Early morning or late afternoon is recommended to avoid the midday heat. The dry season (November to April) offers the most stable weather for visiting. These sites generally receive fewer crowds than the central Bayon or Angkor Wat temples.
