Phimeanakas

Phimeanakas is a Hindu temple located within the royal palace grounds of Angkor Thom. It is characterized by its three-tiered pyramid structure, which serves as a tower. Visitors go here to see the unique stepped architecture and the layout of the former royal enclosure.

Getting There

The temple is located in the Angkor Archaeological Park, outside the main city center of Siem Reap. Most travelers reach the site via tuk-tuk or hired vehicle from the city. The journey typically takes 15 to 20 minutes depending on traffic and the specific starting point in town.

Because of its compact size and specific architectural focus, most visitors spend between 30 and 60 minutes exploring the temple and its immediate surroundings.

Timing and Crowds

To avoid the highest temperatures and the largest groups of tourists, early morning or late afternoon visits are recommended. The site can get crowded during the peak tourist season, particularly when large tour groups move through the Angkor Thom circuit.
