Baksei Chamkrong

Baksei Chamkrong is a Hindu temple located on the left side of the road leading to the south gate of Angkor Thom. Dedicated to the god Shiva, the site once housed a golden statue of the deity in the past. Visitors go here to see the architectural remains of this religious site within the larger Angkor archaeological park.

Getting There

The temple is located in the Angkor area, accessible from Siem Reap city centre via tuk-tuk or bicycle. The travel time varies depending on the mode of transport, typically taking between 15 to 30 minutes.

Visit Duration

Because of its size, most visitors spend approximately 30 to 60 minutes exploring the temple grounds.

Timing Your Visit

The site is best visited during the dry season. To avoid the midday heat, early morning or late afternoon visits are recommended. While less crowded than the primary temples of Angkor, it can still see visitor traffic during peak tourist seasons.
