Ashgabat Botanical Garden
The Ashgabat Botanical Garden is the oldest botanical garden in Turkmenistan. Located on the east side of the city, it serves as a curated collection of diverse plant species and provides a space for walking through various landscaped sections.
Getting There
The garden is located on the eastern edge of the city. From the city centre, the most practical way to reach the site is by taxi. Depending on traffic conditions, the trip typically takes about 15 to 20 minutes.
Duration of Visit
A visit to the grounds generally requires 2 to 3 hours. This allows enough time to walk the main paths and observe the different plant collections without rushing.
When to Visit
The best time to visit is during the spring or autumn months to avoid the extreme heat of the Turkmen summer. Morning visits are recommended to experience the gardens before the midday sun. The site does not typically experience heavy crowds, though it may be busier on weekends.
Nearby Attractions
Because of its location, the garden can be combined with other sites in the eastern part of the city. Nearby points of interest include:
- St. Alexander Nevsky Church (0.8km)
- Ashgabat Russian Drama Theatre named after Pushkin (1.2km)
- Ashgabat Cinema (2.3km)
- Inspiration Alley (2.8km)
