Maungarei / Mount Wellington is a volcanic peak and the youngest volcano in the Auckland volcanic field. Travellers visit to walk along the gentle crater path, which offers elevated views across the city center and surrounding suburbs.
Getting There
From central Auckland, driving takes roughly 15 to 25 minutes. By public transit, Eastern Line trains connect to Panmure Station, where connecting buses reach the area in about 35 to 45 minutes total.

When to Go
