Modes of Transport

Bergen is a compact city where most central attractions, including Bryggen and the fish market, are accessible on foot. For longer distances, the following modes are most effective:

• Bus: The primary network for reaching residential areas and outskirts. It is the best option for general city navigation.
• Bybanen (Light Rail): The most efficient way to travel between the city center, the airport, and the Fyllingsdalen district. It wins on predictability and space.
• Fløibanen: A dedicated funicular specifically for reaching the Fløyen viewpoint.
• Walking: Ideal for the city center and the historic wharf area.

Tickets and Passes

Transport is managed via the Skyss system. Tickets are primarily purchased through the Skyss mobile app.
