What It Is

The Cenacle is an upper room on Mount Zion, situated just outside the Old City walls. According to Christian tradition, it is the site where Jesus and his apostles shared the Last Supper. Travellers visit to see the historic setting connected to biblical accounts and examine its medieval Gothic architecture.

Getting There

Located near Zion Gate, the site is reachable on foot from the Old City centre in roughly 10 to 15 minutes. Taxis and local buses stop near Mount Zion, followed by a short walk along pedestrian paths.

Time to Allow

Plan for 30 to 45 minutes. The site consists primarily of a single room, which gives adequate time to view the stone columns, vaulted ceiling, and informational markers.

When to Go

Early morning and late afternoon are the best times to visit to avoid tour bus groups. Because the room is small, it gets crowded quickly when large groups arrive. Modest attire covering shoulders and knees is recommended.
