Overview

Mount Moriah is an ancient elevated ridge referenced in biblical texts as the location of the Binding of Isaac. Historically identified with the hill beneath the Old City of Jerusalem, it marks the traditional site of Solomon's Temple. Visitors come to observe a geographic landmark central to ancient religious history and regional topography.

Getting There

From central Bethlehem, travelers can take a public bus or shared taxi toward Jerusalem. The transit typically takes 30 to 45 minutes, depending on traffic and checkpoint crossing times.

Recommended Duration

Allow about 1 to 2 hours to walk across the plateau and view the immediate surroundings.

When to Visit

Arriving early in the morning helps avoid both high temperatures and large tour groups. Spring (March to May) and autumn (October to November) provide comfortable walking weather. The surrounding plaza and access gates become heavily crowded during midday and religious holidays.
