Doleshwor Mahadeva Temple is a Hindu pilgrimage site dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in Suryabinayak southeast of Bhaktapur. Devotees visit for worship and rituals. For travelers, it provides a quiet setting to view active Hindu practices and traditional shrine architecture outside the main town.

Getting There

Located about 4 kilometers southeast of central Bhaktapur, the site is reachable in 15 to 20 minutes by taxi. Local buses run toward Suryabinayak and Sipadol, requiring a short walk to reach the entrance.

Plan for 45 minutes to 1 hour to walk through the courtyard and view the main shrines.

When to Visit

Early morning is ideal for watching daily prayer rituals. The temple gets crowded on Mondays, during the Hindu month of Shrawan, and on Maha Shivaratri. The dry season from October to April provides clear weather and easier road conditions.
