St Mark's Tower

Overview

St Mark's Tower is a coastal watchtower completed in 1658 as part of the de Redin fortification system. Visitors come to inspect an authentic, well-preserved 17th-century military lookout and observe early modern defensive architecture along the coastline.

Getting There

From central areas, reaching the site takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes by car or taxi. Regional bus routes running along the coastal road provide access in about 45 to 60 minutes.

Recommended Duration

Plan to spend 20 to 40 minutes here. This is adequate to view the stonework from all angles and survey the rocky shoreline.

When to Visit

Early morning and late afternoon are optimal times to avoid peak heat and sun exposure, as the area has no shade. The tower rarely draws large crowds, making it a quiet stop year-round.
