Braunsberg

Braunsberg is a 346-meter limestone hill located in Hainburg on the Danube. Visitors go here for hiking and to see the remains of an ancient Celtic settlement located near the summit.

Getting There

The hill is located outside the center of Bratislava. Access is typically via car or regional public transport heading toward the border area of Hainburg. The journey from the city center generally takes 30 to 45 minutes depending on the mode of transport.

Duration of Visit

Allow approximately 2 to 4 hours to ascend the hill, explore the summit area and the Celtic traces, and return to the base.

When to Visit

The site is best visited during the spring and autumn for moderate temperatures. Morning visits are recommended to avoid midday heat during the summer. As a natural site, it does not experience the same level of crowding as city center landmarks, though weekends are busier than weekdays.

Combining with Other Sites

Due to its location, this site can be combined with other nearby natural and historical landmarks:

  • Devín Castle: 2.8km
  • Devínska Kobyla: 5km
  • Hindlerberg: 6.4km
